Powers of Appointment in the Current Planning Environment
Sarah S. Butters is a member of the Private Wealth Services Group of Holland & Knight. She is experienced in trust and estates litigation, sophisticated estate planning, the administration of complex probates, guardianship and trusts, and the formation and administration of charitable organizations.
Preparation and Administration of Wills and Trusts. A significant portion of Ms. Butters' practice includes the preparation of estate plans, guardianship planning and prenuptial agreements. She is also experienced in the administration of complex probates, trusts and guardianships.
Trust and Estates Litigation. Ms. Butters has extensive experience in trust and estates litigation. She was recognized by her peers as a Rising Star among trust and estate litigators in Florida Super Lawyers magazine for 2010 and 2011.
Charitable, Nonprofit and Tax-Exempt Organizations. Ms. Butters assists charities in obtaining their tax-exempt status and provides continued legal assistance to ensure charitable clients remain in compliance with IRS regulations regarding the administration of charitable entities.
Commitment to the Profession. Ms. Butters serves on the executive council of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar and serves as the Vice Chair of the Probate Law Committee, the Legislative Committee and the Continuing Legal Education Committee. Ms. Butters is also a past president of the Tallahassee Regional Estate Planning Council, where she provides an annual legislative and case law review of changes to trust and estate laws.
