Joy Watkins is President & CEO of the Community Foundation of North Florida and has served in that capacity for the past 17 years.  Under Joy’s leadership, the Foundation’s assets have grown from $1 million to over $50 million.

Members of the TREPC founded the Community Foundation in March of 1997 making March of 2017 the Foundation's 20th Anniversary.  At the February luncheon, we will celebrate that Anniversary and Joy will highlight (a) the growth and impact of the Foundation over its first 20 years and (b) stories of how people are using the Foundation to fulfill their charitable goals.  Joy will also answer questions about how the Foundation can help you and your clients accomplish charitable goals benefitting all of their clients favorite charities. 

Joy has a bachelor of business administration from Eastern Kentucky University and a law degree from the University of Florida College of Law.  Before joining the Foundation, she practiced law for 9 years primarily in Atlanta, Georgia.  The focus of her law practice was estate planning, which included charitable giving. 

Joy is involved in both the national and statewide associations for community foundations serving as a community foundation National Standards Reviewer for the Council on Foundations in Washington, DC. and as a member of the leadership team of Community Foundations of Florida. She is also Past President of TREPC and serves as the council’s administrator.

In 2013, Joy was one of 3 finalists for Leadership Tallahassee’s Leader of the Year Award and in 2014 she was named by the Tallahassee Democrat one of the 25 Women You Need to Know.
