Acclaimed attorney and author, Christopher R. Hoyt teaches courses in the areas of federal taxation, business organizations, retirement plans and tax-exempt organizations at the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Law. Previously, Professor Hoyt was with the law firm of Spencer, Fane, Britt and Browne in Kansas City, Missouri. 

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Northwestern University and both a Master of Accounting and a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Wisconsin. Currently the chair of the American Bar Association’s Committee on Lifetime and Testamentary Charitable Gift Planning (Section of Probate and Trust), Professor Hoyt sits on the editorial boards of Trusts and Estates magazine. He is a frequent speaker at legal and educational programs, including the University of Miami’s Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning and many ALI-ABA programs. A frequent author and contributor to several journals and magazines, his work has been quoted in numerous publications, including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, MONEY Magazine and The Washington Post.
